About
me
I was born and
brought up in Gibraltar.
In
the early 1980's the land border joining Gibraltar with Spain was
sealed shut, isolating Gibraltarians within its 2.5 sq miles. Until it
fully reopened in 1985, a prohibitively expensive flight to the UK was the
best opportunity most Gibraltarians had to experience the world beyond Gibraltar's historic
city walls. There was ample time to explore every last corner of Gibraltar; a guidebook was
already in the making.
I
lived in the UK for 6 years whilst completing
a degree in Law, a Masters degree and
the Legal Practice Course.
Since returning to the Rock in 2004 I have
written for newspapers and magazines and contributed to numerous travel blogs
and websites. 2009 was a
busy year for me as my first book Historic Walking Guides:
Gibraltar
was published and I also got called to the Gibraltar
Bar.
I like writing unusual stories about familiar destinations,
though often find myself writing familiar stories about unusual destinations.
Basically I'm
a sell-out. Specialities include:
- Gibraltar. - Southern Spain and Morocco.
- Historical
travel.
I enjoy travelling alone but also with
Angela, my wife and personal 'live-in' photographer.
Recent notable trips – have
included Malaga, Chefchaoen (Morocco), Greece and Turkey and
inter-railing round Europe .
Forthcoming travel
– Alnwick (Northumberland),
Southern Portugal and India
.
